After arriving on the University of Colorado campus less than a week ago, freshman running back Darrell Scott has been named the Big 12 Conference's football newcomer of the year in a preseason media poll.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, who was one of the nation's top tailbacks during his career at St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura, Calif., was CU's top 2008 recruit.

Selected to the media's preseason all-conference team was CU senior defensive tackle George Hypolite, who will attend next week's Big 12 media briefing in Kansas City, Mo., with Buffaloes coach Dan Hawkins, safety Ryan Walters and center Daniel Sanders.

Also named to the all-league team were a pair of Oklahoma offensive linemen from Colorado high schools - Phil Loadholt (Fountain-Fort Carson) and Jon Cooper (Fort Collins).

Along with Scott, other individual honorees were Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel (offensive player of the year) and Oklahoma defensive end Auston English (defensive player of the year).
