Don't miss the jousting at the Colorado Renaissance Festival.

Yarrrr

For a real afternoon of Renaissance- style fun, sit in a shed with no air conditioning, munch down some week-old mutton and contemplate what you'll do with your allotted 40 years of life. For a slightly more fanciful - if less thoroughly depressing - experience, get thee to the Colorado Renaissance Festival. Shop the many trinket vendors, grab a turkey leg, take in the comedic stylings of longtime Festival yuksters Puke & Snot, maybe some jousting - and don't forget to look for the Pirates' Pub. After all, nothin' says "Renaissance" like pirates.

* Where: Larkspur

* Cost: $17.95 adult; $8 kids ages 5-12; kids under 5 free

They actually stayed alive

The gentlemen in The Australian Bee Gees Show call themselves that in an effort to avoid confusion with the original article, but isn't that kind of like calling your Boston tribute band The Boston Bostonians? We think most people will figure it out when they look onstage and see that extra member alive and well. In any case, the music will be exactly what Gibb family fans want: a faithful recitation of decades' worth of falsetto-laden chartbusters.

* When: 8 p.m. today

* Where: Red Rocks Amphitheatre

* Cost: $26

* Information: 303-830-8497

In the Old West, they drove free

We hear tell that Father's Day is this weekend, and you know what Dad likes more than anything . . . no, not interpretive dance. Frankly, that wasn't even close. We were speaking of cars, cars and more cars, the cars you'll see at the Wild West Auto Roundup. Stroll the streets of downtown Golden and gawk at more than 200 vintage autos, muscle cars, hot rods and trucks; if he's a fan of stock car racing, he'll enjoy a close-up peek at the Furniture Row NASCAR Team's 2007 Monte Carlo SS Super Speedway Race Car. And with the ancillary kayak demonstrations, kids' area and live music, there will be plenty for the rest of the family to do while Dad polishes the sidewalk with his jaw.

* When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday

* Where: Downtown Golden, on Washington Avenue between 10th and 14th streets

* Cost: Free

* Information: 2hourvacation.com

Mmmm . . . keg beer and handlebars

Ever wondered what Fort Collins tastes like? Well, some of us would say "keg beer and handlebars," but that's the native's jaded reply; truly, the only way for you all to know for sure is to attend the 2008 Taste of Fort Collins. Sample wares from various dining establishments, check out a variety of live music - including headliners Lifehouse and Shawn Colvin - and drink deep the draughts of the region's many craft brewers.

* When: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday

* Where: Civic Center Park, Old Town Fort Collins

* Cost: $10, kids under 12, seniors over 65 and military with ID get in free

* Information: TasteofFortCollins.com

You're in Parker country

There's just something about those summer civic festivals, with their local bands and their kettle corn and their carnival rides and their mulleted families in Dale Earnhardt T-shirts that just makes us swell with . . . uh, pride. Anyway, the Parker Country Festival fits that bill to a tee: The town's unofficial start to summer offers live music, a parade, a "Parker Idol" contest and everything else you'd expect . . . although we can't vouch for the hockey hair. Parker is a pretty cosmopolitan place, after all.

* When: Carnival hours 5 p.m.-midnight tonight; 9 a.m.-midnight Saturday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. Other events at various times, see online for details.

* Where: Downtown Parker

* Cost: Carnival tickets $25 apiece

* Information: parkercountryfestival.org
